September Favourites 2013

This month there has been several products that I have been loving. So today I decided to share them with you:)

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - £3.99
This is one of the most talked about British high street concealers, and no wonder. It's brilliant! It really does last all day on your face although as you can see, the packaging doesn't but I don't mind. My one is in the shade '1 Fair' although it is too light so I need to get a darker shade. Just get it and try it out because it is amazing!

Maxfactor Lash Extension Effect Extreme Lengthening Mascara - £10.99
This mascara is on the higher end of the high street makeup scale, but in my opinion it is worth it! If you don't like spidery lashes and prefer a more natural look the this is the mascara for you! It's reasonably volumising for a lengthening mascara but if you like a very voluminous look then I wouldn't say this is one for you. This is perfect for school as it gives just the perfect natural-ish look while adding a little somin'-somin'!

Maybelline Color Sensational in '150 Stellar Pink' - £7.99
This lipstick is gorgeous! I have been wearing it nearly every day because it gives a beautiful colour! Also, I was surprised when I found out how moisturising it was especially for lipsticks which I can sometimes find drying. I'm in love with this! The colour is a beautiful rose colour and is perfect for everyday wear!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Trio Eyeshadow in '621 Orion' - £6.49
I love this eyeshadow trio! Although because I have oily eyelids I haven't found the perfect primer to keep my shadow from creasing so if you have any good ones, leave them below! These colours are beautiful and create the perfect neutral eye! Amazing pigmentation! Not much else to say.

Baylis & Harding wild rose and raspberry leaf moisturising hand lotion - unsure of price
This hand lotion is too good for words. It smells amazing and feels great too! The rose scent is what drew me to the product as I love rose scents and I couldn't believe my luck when I tried it out! Guys, it seriously does smell AMAZING! I just love it and I'll be needing it for the cold Scottish months soon to come!

Nails of the Week - 30/09/2013

So this week I have been sporting a dark blue metallic colour. I usually don't go for blue colours as they don't normally suit my skin tone, but I love this one! The products I used are:

17 Nail Xtras Strengthening Base Coat - Around £2.99 (It wouldn't let me upload a picture but I have one in last weeks nails of the week and a mini review).

NYC Long-Wearing Nail Enamel in '115A Skin Tight Denim Creme' - £1.99
This nail polish is cheap but very good quality. NYC was my first nail polish brand I properly bought from as it was within my very small budget. This nail polish is quite old so it may not be available anymore but I'm sure there are plenty of alternatives on the high street. You could easily get away with one coat of this polish as it has very high coverage, although that can't be said for all the NYC nail colours as some of them can be quite sheer. I absolutely love this colour!

Maybelline Color Show in '649 Clear Shine' - £2.99
Again, an amazing top coat. You'll be seeing this quite often on these so I wont bore you by giving you another mini review of it. If you want to see the mini review go to last week's nails of the week.

Nails of the Week - 23/09/2013

So far this week I have been wearing this look on my nails, and I have to say, I am adoring it so far! I think this look gives a very autumnal feel and it looks great with above the knuckle rings!

Products used to create this look:
Seventeen Nail Xtras Strengthening Base Coat (around £2.99 I think)
It's always important to wear a base coat whenever you wear nail polish to prevent staining and to even out the nail. I have used this Seventeen one although I have had better, I'd say just any base coat nail polish would do, there is nothing spectacular about this one! If you know of any other good base coats please let me know because I am in desperate need of a new one!

Maybelline Color Show in '352 Downtown Red' - £2.99
I love these nail polishes, as you will see because all of my nail colours are from the Color Show selection. These give a very smooth and shiny finish and take a while to chip, mines lasts for about a week. Superb! This one is a beautiful deep red colour which is perfect for autumn! Not much I can say other than that! Love it!

Maybelline Color Show in '46 Sugar Crystals' - £2.99
I first discovered this on a youtube advert and though to myself "Ooh, that looks pretty cool" and now this is definitely my favourite nail polish by far! It adds the perfect amount of fine glitter that adds a bit of shimmer and sparkle to any dull polish! I have been wearing this to death! (I know, I'll tone down the exclamation marks, but it's just really great).
Maybelline Color Show in '649 Clear Shine' - £2.99
When you see this polish in the bottle it looks a bit pinkish, which made me a bit reluctant to buy it in case it dyed my lighter colours on my nails darker. But I couldn't have been more wrong and I'm so glad I bought this! It adds a very nice shiny coat to top off your polish, great drugstore top coat. It also locks in your designs for the entire week and makes your nails beautifully smooth.

Thank you for reading this blog post and these type of blog posts will be up every week. Love, Emma:)

Review: Maybelline Fit Me anti-shine stick foundation

Today I decided that I would do a review of my Maybelline Fit Me anti-shine stick foundation because before I bought this I tried searching for a review of this and found out that it is not got very many reviews. My one is in the shade '120 Classic Ivory'. It doesn't match my skin tone exactly but it is the best match that they have in my nearest Boots store as they don't have a very big Maybelline section.

The anti-shine stick is made up of a powder core to give a more matte finish surrounded by a creamy gel-like foundation. I have to say, I was pretty surprised when this product actually worked and combined with my MaxFactor Creme Puff powder give a more matte finish for longer. If your skin is only a little oily or if you have normal skin then I think you could probably pull this off without a powder.
I don't feel as if this would work very well with someone with skin on the dryer side, because it does stick to my dry patches. To prevent this, on my dry patches I only use the side of the stick to make sure none of the powder core gets on my dry patches. I feel as if this does help with my dry patches but if you have dry skin all over, I would not recommend this foundation for you.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good drugstore foundation for normal-oily skin but definitely not for dry skin at all!

Review: Products from The Body Shop

I have been a fan of the body shop for a while now, and decided that today I would give 3 of their products that are not as well known in the beauty world, a review.

First off I have a true favourite of mine, it's called Born Lippy. It doesn't exactly specify what it is on the packaging but I would describe it as a lip gloss/balm. My one is in 'Raspberry'.
This is a lovely product because it makes your lips look enlarged and beautiful (please excuse the redness on my face, it was a no makeup day today). It gives a nice amount of hydration although I would recommend wearing a lip balm underneath to get full hydration. It also gives a nice subtle tint to the lips and smells delicious(it also tastes pretty good too)! It is not sticky and comes in a variety of different colours and smells. A definite must have for me from the Body Shop.

Another favourite of mines is their fragrance mist in 'Atlas Mountain Rose'.
This is for all those rose-lovers out there just like me. The scent is not too strong and smells exactly like a fresh rose. It has amazing lasting power and is a very calming scent to me. I receive many compliments when I wear this scent and for me it is one of the best fragrances I own. I don't think I can say any more than that, next time your in the Body Shop make sure to give Atlas Mountain Rose a sniff.

The final body shop product I have today is the Raspberry Shower Gel.
This shower gel is soap free and lathers up like a dream! The scent is an amazing, fresh, fruity scent! In the Body Shop nearest me, this is the only raspberry scented product other than Born Lippy and I don't know why they don't have more! One of the nicest scents from the Body Shop! Again, I'd give it a sniff next time your in.

Fall/Autumn Beauty Must Haves!

For my first ever post here on BeautyByEmmaE, I'd like to do a Fall/Autumn beauty must haves. So here they are with a mini review (I warn you, there are a lot of lip products!):

My first must have has to be a cherry/darkish colour lip colour. One I've been loving is Maybelline's Baby Lips in 'cherry me'.
This is perfect as it adds a cherry coloured tint to your lips and is very moisturising, it is especially perfect for school if you don't want too much of a bold lip!

The next it a bit more bold, it is Maybelline's color sensational lipstick in the shade '540 Hollywood Red'.

This matte cherry coloured red lipstick is perfect for fall! It has good lasting power and is nice and moisturising and I think it would great with every skin tone. I don't usually wear red lips as it doesn't usually suit me, but because this is not a full on red and more a brownish pinkish red, it doesn't look too full on.

If your not a fan of red lips, Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in '005 crush' is a perfect raspberry/purpleish colour. (You can tell by my descriptions that I'm not the greatest at describing colours).
This is my first ever Kissable Balm Stain and I love it! It has AMAZING staying and lasting power! Although, it isn't as moisturising as I would like, so I wear a lip balm underneath it.

Now onto eyeshadow. I personally love neutral colours in the fall, and I love the next two products. The first is Sleek's iDivine eyeshadow palette in 'Au Naturel 601'.
It has a perfect mix of matte colours and shimmery colour and has amazing pigmentation! Definitely worth the £8 (around £8ish) it costs! They blend incredibly well and look gorgeous! Don't know what I would do without this product! It's also perfect if you are at school and don't want your eyeshadow to be too out there.

My final product is M.U.A's eyeshadow palette in 'Heaven and Earth'.
This product is great if you don't want to spend a lot on makeup as it is only £3! Definitely worth it as it has amazing pigmentation and lasting power! Although, I do prefer the Sleek palette over this one as this one doesn't have any matte colours. I can't really complain though because of its price. The colours again look beautiful and blend pretty well!  It's probably better for going out or if you prefer a very shimmery eye, I personally wouldn't wear it for school but it totally depends what your tastes are!

Thank you for reading my first ever blog post please leave feedback and tell me if there is any products I should try out as I am always on the hunt for good quality drugstore products!
